Valery gonzalez changemakers presentation

Valery Gonzalez  After listening to all the group presentations about historical change makers, I realized how much individuals from different time periods have helped shape the world we live in today. Each group focused on a different era, starting from the 1700s and ending with modern figures from the 2000s. What I liked about this project was that it allowed us to hear different perspectives and learn about important people in history through our classmates’ research and presentations. Instead of simply reading about these individuals in a textbook, we were able to see how each person impacted society and why they are remembered today. The first presentation discussed figures from the 1700s, many of whom were key leaders during the founding of the United States. Some of the people mentioned included George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and James Wilson. These individuals played important roles in the creation of the Constitution and th...

Changemakers Presentation - Valerie Oves

This new project was a fun and interesting one as opposed to the previous one we did. Each group presented more interesting information alongside pictures of well known change makers from over the years who have contributed to the world we have today. The time periods range from the 1700's to the 2000's/todays time. The first group to present was group 3, presenting the 1700's era. They included change makers such as George Washington, Alice Paul, Alexander Hamilton, James Wilson, Benjamin Franklin, and James Madison. All these change makers were influential for this time period because they all contributed towards the coming of the Constitution and shaping American Laws. To begin, Naomy presented George Washington letting us know information about his past, his experiences growing up and serving as a general in war, and how he came to be the first president of the United States of America. The other couple change makers that were talked about, are also very w...

Yuliesky Marrero Thoughts on 1970-2000s Changemakers

Thoughts on Historical Figures   While this might go without saying, I think everyone did very well with going over their historical figures and giving the class their major impact on society ever since the 1700s to today. Even if it was with one action or aspect of society, or even more than just one, all of these figures did something to earn their fame in America's history. Starting off with Group 3, they went over some of the Founding Fathers like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, James Wilson, Madison, and including Abigail Adams, who I found to be the most unique among them. That being said, it's no wonder that she would catch my attention the most, especially with the video that was tied to her. She saw during the American Revolution just how strong, capable, and resilient women could be despite how they are often perceived and treated during these times as I would assume, so she sought to make any change she could through her letters with her husband, asking him t...

Valerie Oves     Public speaking has always been something that makes me nervous, and even signing up for this class made me a little scared. However, I realize that this is a skill that is important to learn and will benefit me in the future. When our class first got assigned a group presentation project, I honestly didn't know what to expect. It was a collaboration with people I didn't know, so the beginning of our process was a bit rough. Looking back now, I can say this presentation taught me a lot. It didn't only teach me how to create the presentation or give one, but it taught me how to collaborate with others, prepare for the presentation, and listen to others. Each group covered different chapters all focusing on different things that involves becoming a strong speaker and how to present.     To begin with, group one started the the presentations off with covering chapter 1, 2, 3, and 5, which covered what public speaking is, the foundation, contemporary com...

I Loved All The Presentations!   I'll admit that while it definitely started off a bit messy with some missing students and some that seemed somewhat at unprepared that the topics they explained made sense and that I was able to understand the specific topics each of them was talking about. I personally think that the first group bore the biggest burden with the presentations but they still did well enough with how they tried to explain it, so I'd like to give them praise for that. Starting with Camilla Carla, she was able to explain the main points very concisely and explained everything that she had to without issue. For example, explaining what public speaking is in the first place, like what makes a good public speaker and how it has shifted into online spaces, as well as the foundations of public speaking, like appealing to Logos, Pathos, or Ethos, or the main 5 arts of public speaking, she made it very easy to understand what she was talking about. After her were Calym...

Working on this group project was honestly a lot at once. The process of creating a PowerPoint presentation started with an excessive amount of information which created challenges for maintaining a consistent work speed. Our presentation included topics like informative speaking, persuasive speaking, arguments, audiences, media communication, distance speaking, and special occasion speeches. The first challenge I faced when I saw all the components in one project was the fear of presenting our work to others while maintaining our own understanding of the project. The presentation slides contained so much information that I understood the presentation covered all necessary details. The presenters needed to establish their presentation goals at the start before they organized their material and delivered it in an easy-to-understand format. The following subject matter required me to study how to address different audiences through persuasive speaking which included learning about c...

Throughout the group presentations in this course, I gained a deeper understanding of what effective public speaking looks like in practice, as well as how challenging it can be to communicate ideas clearly in front of an audience. Each group approached their presentation differently, and observing these differences helped me recognize how organization, delivery, and audience engagement all play an important role in the success of a speech. Overall, every group demonstrated effort, preparation, and a willingness to participate, which made the presentation experience both educational and engaging.   On e thing I noticed right away was how important organization is. Some groups started their presentation with a clear introduction and explained what they were going to talk about. When groups did this, it was much easier to understand their topic and stay focused. Other groups did not explain their topic right away, which made their presentation a little confusing at first. This...
